How to Set Up IPTV on Chromecast & Google TV

Learn how to watch IPTV on Chromecast or Chromecast with Google TV. Install a compatible IPTV player, connect your subscription or cast from a supported device to your television.

Device: Chromecast

Before You Begin

There are two common ways to watch IPTV using Chromecast, and the correct setup depends on which Chromecast device you own.

If you have Chromecast with Google TV, you can install compatible IPTV applications directly on the device.

If you have a traditional Chromecast without the Google TV interface and remote, you will normally cast compatible content from a phone or tablet to your television.

Before starting, make sure:

  • Your Chromecast is connected to your television.
  • Your Chromecast has been set up and connected to the internet.
  • You have an active IPTV subscription.
  • You have received the service information for your subscription.
  • Your phone, tablet or Chromecast is connected to the appropriate network.

Follow the section below that matches your device.

Option 1: Chromecast With Google TV

Chromecast with Google TV has its own Google TV interface and remote control.

This allows you to install compatible IPTV players directly on the Chromecast.

Step 1: Open the Apps Section

Turn on your television and switch to the HDMI input connected to your Chromecast with Google TV.

From the Google TV home screen, open the Apps section or use the search feature.

Step 2: Search for an IPTV Player

Search for a compatible IPTV player.

Examples of IPTV players available for Android TV or Google TV may include:

  • TiviMate IPTV Player
  • Sparkle TV Player
  • Televizo

App availability can change depending on your country, device and Google Play account.

Use the IPTV player recommended by your IPTV provider whenever possible.

Step 3: Install the IPTV Player

Select the IPTV player from the search results.

Choose Install and wait for the application to download.

When installation is complete, select Open.

Step 4: Open the IPTV Player

Launch the IPTV application.

Depending on the player, you may see options for adding a playlist, user, portal or IPTV service.

The wording will vary between applications.

Step 5: Select the Correct Login Method

Choose the connection method that matches the service information supplied by your IPTV provider.

Depending on the player, available methods may include:

  • Xtream Codes
  • M3U Playlist
  • Portal
  • Stalker Portal
  • Add User
  • Add Playlist

Not every IPTV player supports every connection method.

Use only the method that matches the information supplied with your subscription.

Step 6: Enter Your IPTV Service Information

Carefully enter the service information provided with your subscription.

Depending on your IPTV player and connection method, you may be asked for a username, Portal URL or other service details.

Enter the information exactly as provided.

Your IPTV service information is separate from the email address and password used to access your KingTV.ca customer account.

If you were provided with a Portal URL, do not change the address or switch between HTTP and HTTPS.

Step 7: Connect Your Subscription

Review the information you entered before continuing.

Select the appropriate option, such as:

  • Add User
  • Login
  • Connect
  • Add Playlist
  • Save

The IPTV player should begin connecting to your service.

Step 8: Wait for Your Content to Load

Allow the application to finish its initial loading process.

Depending on your IPTV player and subscription, you may see sections such as:

  • Live TV
  • Sports
  • Movies
  • Series
  • TV Guide / EPG
  • Favourites
  • Catch-Up, where available

Once loading is complete, select what you want to watch using your Chromecast remote.

Option 2: Traditional Chromecast Without Google TV

If your Chromecast does not have the Google TV interface and remote control, the setup is different.

Instead of installing the IPTV player directly on the Chromecast, you generally use a compatible application on another device and cast supported content to the Chromecast.

Step 1: Set Up Your Chromecast

Make sure your Chromecast has already been configured and connected to your television and network.

If it has not been set up yet, complete the normal Chromecast setup using the Google Home app first.

Step 2: Install a Chromecast-Compatible Player

Install a compatible IPTV player on your phone or tablet.

One example is Televizo on Android, which lists Chromecast support.

Other IPTV players may also provide Google Cast support.

App features can change, so check that the player you choose currently supports casting.

Step 3: Add Your IPTV Subscription

Open the IPTV player on your phone or tablet.

Add your IPTV service using the connection method and information supplied by your IPTV provider.

Enter all service information exactly as provided.

Step 4: Connect to the Same Network

Make sure your Chromecast and the device running your IPTV player can communicate over the local network.

For a typical home setup, both devices should normally be connected to the same home network.

Step 5: Look for the Cast Button

Open the IPTV player and look for the Cast icon if the application supports Google Cast.

The icon normally resembles a small screen with wireless signal lines in one corner.

Tap the Cast icon and select your Chromecast from the available devices.

Step 6: Select What You Want to Watch

After connecting to the Chromecast, select supported content from the IPTV player.

Playback should appear on your television while your phone or tablet acts as the controller.

Available casting features depend on the IPTV application being used.

Recommended IPTV Player Options for Chromecast With Google TV

TiviMate IPTV Player is designed for Android TV and remote-control navigation. It supports common IPTV formats including M3U, Xtream Codes and Stalker Portal.

Sparkle TV Player is another Google TV-compatible option. It supports IPTV playlists, Xtream Codes and Stalker Portal along with EPG and other television-focused features.

Televizo supports IPTV playlists and EPG features and also lists Chromecast support, making it particularly useful when casting from a compatible device.

The IPTV player itself does not provide your television subscription or channels. You must add service information from your IPTV provider.

Keep Your Service Information Private

Never publicly share your IPTV username, Portal URL or other service access information.

Be especially careful when taking photos or screenshots of IPTV application settings because they may contain private service details.

Troubleshooting

I Can't Find the IPTV Player

Search for the exact application name in the Apps section of Google TV.

App availability can vary depending on your device, country and Google Play account.

If the recommended player is unavailable, contact your IPTV provider for another compatible option.

I Have Chromecast but There Is No App Store

You may have a traditional Chromecast rather than Chromecast with Google TV.

Traditional Chromecast devices do not use the same Google TV app-installation process.

Use a compatible application on your phone or tablet and cast supported content to the Chromecast instead.

My Chromecast Does Not Appear in the Cast List

Make sure the Chromecast is turned on and properly connected.

Confirm that your Chromecast and phone or tablet can communicate over your local network.

Restart the Chromecast, IPTV application and mobile device if necessary.

My IPTV Login Does Not Work

Check the service information you entered for:

  • Typing mistakes
  • Extra spaces
  • Incorrect capitalization
  • Incorrect login method
  • Incorrect Portal URL

Do not change the Portal URL from HTTP to HTTPS or HTTPS to HTTP.

Your IPTV service information is separate from your KingTV.ca website login.

IPTV Is Buffering on Chromecast

Try the following:

  • Restart your Chromecast.
  • Restart your modem or router.
  • Check the stability of your internet connection.
  • Move the Chromecast or router closer together when possible.
  • Pause large downloads on other devices.
  • Close unnecessary streaming applications.
  • Test another channel or stream.

Casting Connects but the Video Does Not Play

Disconnect from the Chromecast and reconnect.

Close and reopen the IPTV application.

Confirm that the particular IPTV player supports casting for the content you are attempting to play.

Casting capabilities can vary between applications.

The Picture Quality Is Poor

Streaming quality depends on several factors, including your internet connection, source quality, Chromecast model, television and IPTV application.

Allow the stream a short time to stabilize and check your network connection if quality remains poor.

The IPTV App Is Slow on Chromecast With Google TV

Close unnecessary applications and restart the Chromecast.

Limited available storage can also affect some Google TV devices.

Remove applications you no longer use if your device is running low on storage.

There Is No Sound

Check the volume on your television and make sure it is not muted.

If you use a soundbar or external audio system, confirm that the correct audio input is selected.

Restart the stream if necessary.

The TV Guide Is Not Loading

Allow the EPG or TV guide some time to load after connecting your subscription.

Restart the IPTV application if necessary.

Program guide information may not be available for every channel.
