Before You Begin
Your Mac can be used to watch IPTV directly without needing a separate streaming box.
This guide applies to compatible MacBook, iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio computers running macOS.
Before starting, make sure:
- Your Mac is connected to the internet.
- You have an active IPTV subscription.
- You have received the service information for your subscription.
- You can install applications on your Mac.
The exact setup screens will vary depending on the IPTV player you use.
Step 1: Check Your Internet Connection
Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection before installing an IPTV player.
Open Safari or another web browser and visit a website to confirm that your connection is working.
A stable internet connection is important for smooth video streaming.
Step 2: Find a Compatible IPTV Player for macOS
Use the IPTV player recommended by your IPTV provider.
Depending on the application, you may be able to install it from:
- The Mac App Store
- The IPTV player's official website
- Another trusted source recommended by your IPTV provider
Make sure the application supports macOS before downloading it.
Avoid downloading IPTV software from random websites or unfamiliar download pages.
Step 3: Install the IPTV Player
If the player is available through the Mac App Store, select Get or the download button and allow the installation to complete.
If you downloaded the application from the developer's official website, open the downloaded installer and follow the instructions provided.
Depending on the application, you may need to move it into your Applications folder.
Step 4: Open the IPTV Application
After installation, open the Applications folder or Launchpad and select your IPTV player.
The first time you open an application downloaded outside the Mac App Store, macOS may display a security confirmation.
Only continue if you recognize the application and obtained it from a trusted source.
Step 5: Add Your IPTV Subscription
Once the IPTV player opens, look for an option to add a service, user, account or playlist.
Depending on the application, you may see options such as:
- Add User
- Login
- Xtream Codes
- API Login
- Add Playlist
- Portal
- Add Profile
Select the connection method that matches the service information supplied by your IPTV provider.
Step 6: Enter Your IPTV Service Information
Carefully enter the information provided with your IPTV subscription.
Depending on your player and connection method, you may be asked for a username, Portal URL or other service details.
Enter the information exactly as provided.
Your IPTV service information is separate from the email address and password used to access your KingTV.ca customer account.
Do not change the Portal URL or other service information unless instructed by your IPTV provider.
Step 7: Connect Your Subscription
Review the information you entered before continuing.
Select the appropriate option, which may be labelled:
- Connect
- Add User
- Save
- Add Playlist
The IPTV application should begin connecting to your service.
Step 8: Allow Your IPTV Content to Load
During the first connection, the IPTV player may need some time to load the content associated with your subscription.
Keep the application open until the initial loading process finishes.
Loading time can vary depending on your internet connection, Mac and IPTV application.
Step 9: Start Watching IPTV on Your Mac
After the service finishes loading, browse the available sections in your IPTV player.
Depending on your subscription and application, you may see:
- Live TV
- Sports
- Movies
- Series
- TV Guide / EPG
- Favourites
- Catch-Up, where available
Select what you want to watch and use the player's full-screen option for a larger viewing experience.
Using a MacBook With a Television
You may be able to connect your MacBook or Mac desktop to a compatible television or external display.
Depending on your Mac model, this may require:
- HDMI
- USB-C to HDMI adapter
- Thunderbolt-compatible adapter
- Another compatible display connection
After connecting the television, open your Mac's display settings to configure the external screen.
Available options depend on your Mac model, television and adapter.
Keep Your Mac and IPTV Player Updated
Keep macOS and your IPTV player reasonably up to date.
Applications installed through the Mac App Store can be updated through the store.
For software installed directly from a developer, use the application's normal update process.
Keep Your Service Details Private
Your IPTV username, Portal URL and other service information should be treated as private.
Do not post your service information or screenshots containing it publicly.
If you need assistance, contact IPTV support through your customer account.
Troubleshooting
I Can't Install the IPTV Player
Confirm that the IPTV application supports macOS.
If you downloaded the application from a website, make sure you selected the Mac version rather than the Windows version.
Also check that your Mac has enough available storage space.
macOS Will Not Open the IPTV Application
macOS may block or warn you about applications downloaded outside the Mac App Store.
First confirm that you downloaded the application from an official or trusted source.
Do not bypass macOS security protections for an application from an unknown source.
If the application is trusted but macOS still blocks it, review the security information shown in your Mac's Privacy & Security settings.
My IPTV Login Is Not Working
Carefully compare the information entered in the IPTV player with the service information you received.
Check for:
- Incorrect letters or numbers
- Extra spaces
- Incorrect capitalization
- Incorrect connection method
- Incorrect Portal URL
Your IPTV service information and website account login are separate.
The IPTV Player Is Stuck Loading
Close the IPTV application and open it again.
If the problem continues:
- Restart your Mac.
- Check your internet connection.
- Restart your modem or router.
- Confirm that your subscription is active.
Then reopen the IPTV player.
IPTV Is Buffering on My Mac
Try the following:
- Close and reopen the IPTV player.
- Check the stability of your internet connection.
- Restart your Mac.
- Restart your modem or router.
- Pause large downloads.
- Pause cloud backups or file synchronization.
- Close applications using significant bandwidth.
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router.
- Use a compatible wired connection when available.
The Video Has No Sound
Check your Mac's volume and make sure audio is not muted.
Open the macOS sound settings and confirm that the correct output device is selected.
If your Mac is connected to a television or external display, check whether audio is being sent to that device.
Video Playback Is Choppy
Close unnecessary applications and browser tabs.
Background applications using significant memory, processing power or internet bandwidth may affect video playback.
Restart your Mac and IPTV player if the problem continues.
The IPTV App Keeps Closing
Check whether an update is available for the IPTV application.
Restart your Mac and try opening the player again.
If necessary, reinstall the application.
Reinstalling may remove saved service information, so make sure you have your IPTV details available first.
IPTV Works on Wi-Fi but Not Another Network
Confirm that the other network has a working internet connection.
Close and reopen the IPTV player after changing networks.
Some public, workplace, hotel or managed networks may restrict certain internet traffic.
The TV Guide Is Not Showing Information
Allow the EPG or TV guide time to load after connecting your subscription.
Close and reopen the IPTV player if necessary.
Guide information may not be available for every channel.
